http://ny-hpan.org/ Attention New York Horse Owners, a new site to explain NAIS and how New York is "Voluntarily"
participating your premises. If you are against NAIS even if you don't have a horse please join them..
To view New Yorks Cooperative Agreement for the implementation of NAIS visit:
One by one New York Horse owners are being signed up for Premises ID with out your consent via Coggins!!!!!!
So you think the NAIS is Voluntary? Well its not, and if you own a horse, the Coggins/EIA tests are linked
for you to get a 'Premises Identification card in the mail and hey you didn't even have to "Register" but they do send
the opt out form to you along with your card... Just how legal is this..?
She had coggins tests done in Feb 07 so we assume that is where
they got her information. (She moved here late last fall from the same county I did and they had her new address on
this letter and the accompanying USDA Premises ID card.)
NY has changed the wording on this year's letter to attempt to
convince more people not to complain.
Of interest, the letter had her name on it but the NYS certificate
and the USDA Premises ID card have only her address on it - proof that this goes with your property and not you if you move.
The letter also contained an information sheet on the 'opt-out'
procedure for those who do not want to participate.
You don't ask to participate then have to fill out forms to get
your property removed! She and another horse owner in this area have been calling the NYS Dept of Ag for over a week
about this and no one has yet returned their calls.
A copy of the letter from NY AG can be downloaded for viewing.
