The OIE is emerging as the dominant global decision-making entity regarding animal welfare (not rights) issues. The USA, through the USDA/APHIS continues to participate in these discussions to ensure that opinions of our industries and all stakeholders are heard.
We will also look at existing attitudes of consumers, the impact of proposed animal welfare standards and of biotechnogly, and animal welfare considerations of outsourcing food animal production.
